Canadian singer Justin Bieber was named “performer of the year” on Sunday by the MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA).

Bieber said the past year has been difficult for everyone, particularly because of the coronavirus pandemic, and especially thanked his wife, Hailey Baldwin, whom they married this year.
Ariana Grande, Amala Dlamini, known as Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift also competed for the award with the Canadian pop singer.
In addition, the joint composition of the Canadian with Desman Evans (Giveon) and Ashton Simmonds (Daniel Caesar) called Peaches became the best in the category of “Pop Music”.
Olivia Rodrigo received the MTV Song of the Year award.
This year’s award, which turned 40 in August, returned to its usual format – all awards are held at the indoor sports arena of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in the presence of fans.
The MTV Video Music Awards were established by the MTV music channel in 1984, later becoming one of the most prestigious awards in the field of video clips.
