Typhoon Chantu is expected to bring strong winds and torrential rains to China’s coastal areas.
Authorities in Shanghai and neighboring regions reportedly canceled flights and trains and sent children home.
A typhoon storm is expected to hit Shanghai with wind speeds of more than 170 kilometers per hour.
Meteorologists have said that as Chantu reaches Shanghai, its strength will decline. But still, it is expected that in coastal areas it will bring strong winds and heavy rains.
Authorities also suspended public transport on some lines serving the city’s southern districts and said parks, outdoor tourist attractions, and playgrounds would be closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Note that earlier the typhoon hit the east coast of Taiwan over the weekend, disrupting transport and causing power outages.
Earlier, the typhoon covered the Philippines. Weather, due to strong winds in several provinces there were power outages.
The typhoon was accompanied by a steady wind with a speed of 120 km / h, and its gusts reached 150 km / h.
