American actress, singer, and dancer Jane Powell, best known for her starring role in the musical “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” (1954), has died at the age of 93. This was reported on Thursday by The Washington Post with reference to the girlfriend of actress Susan Granger.

According to the publication, Powell died on September 16 at her home in Wilton (Connecticut). The cause of death is not specified.
Powell’s creative path
The creative career of the Hollywood star began in childhood. At the age of 14, she performed a role in an opera based on Georges Bizet’s classic drama Carmen, which allowed her to win a talent show in Hollywood and sign a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The peak of the actress’ popularity came in 1940-1950.
Powell also starred in the musical “Royal Wedding” (Royal Wedding, 1951) with Fred Aster in the lead role. Other works by the actress include Holiday in Mexico (1946), Three Daring Daughters (1948), and others. Her talent was not limited to appearing on screen, Powell also participated in many theatrical productions. So, in 1974, she replaced Debbie Reynolds in the Broadway musical “Irene” (Irene) based on the play by James Montgomery.
In 1960, the star Jane Powell was unveiled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
