According to the document, the leaders of the United States and India agreed to build a strategic partnership and work with regional groups to promote common interests in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
Joe Biden reaffirmed the strength of defense relations between the United States and India and expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation in the field of advanced military technology.
The document stressed that the United States and India will work together to combat global terrorism and take concerted action against all terrorist groups. In particular, the leaders stressed the importance of combating terrorism in Afghanistan. They noted that the Taliban must comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2593 (2021), which states that the territory of Afghanistan should never again be used to threaten or attack other countries, as well as to shelter or train terrorists, or to plan or finance terrorist attacks.
President Joe Biden also reaffirmed US support for India’s permanent membership in the reformed UN Security Council. In addition, the leaders of the two countries are looking forward to the opening of the US-India Gandhi-King Development Fund to promote cooperation in health, education, and the environment.
In September, the United States, Britain, and Australia agreed on a defense and security partnership, AUKUS, in which Australia will receive nuclear submarine technology from its allies and become the seventh country in the world to have such a fleet.
