ZF Aftermarket strives to make driving and car maintenance attractive to everyone. ZF’s innovative technologies for cars, commercial and trucks, trailers, and buses play a crucial role here.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – September 25, 2021 – Technology
New products, such as modular ABS sensors (brand WABCO) and electric brake boosters for electric vehicles (brand TRW), are just some examples of the wide, innovative range of products that will be presented at the ZF Aftermarket digital stand at Automechanika 2021 from 14 to 16 September. One of the key topics of the digital exhibition will be environmentally friendly production. One of the elements of the ZF program aimed at environmental protection is a solution in the field of industrial restoration, repair, and retrofitting of cars, which allows to reduce material costs and reduce harmful emissions. Its second element is to provide the concern’s plants with “green” energy. ZF Aftermarket will present the TRG #greenaftermarket series of brake pads for the first time.
Recently, the digitalization of the automotive industry is gaining momentum. As a result, consumer demands for functionality, speed, and comfort are growing. Together with partners, ZF Aftermarket strives to make driving and car maintenance attractive to everyone.
“The values ?? of our concern – trust, dedication, and attentiveness – are realized not only with service support. They must be visible to the consumer and present at every stage of the production chain, ”explains Dr. Holger Hettych, ZF Aftermarket’s head of customer service and strategy development.
The key to success is close cooperation with partners. “We practice an individual approach to customers, strive to do everything for their comfort, and keep in touch – the only way we can constantly improve the quality of service,” – says Dr. Holger Hettych.
Professional development of service station employees
The goal of ZF Aftermarket is to make all market participants aware of the new generation of technologies, understand what problems their implementation may be associated with, and be ready to solve them. Thanks to service concepts for service stations such as ZF [pro] Tech, service stations are provided with a complete service package that provides access to instructions for mounting components on specific vehicles and complete technical information about ZF Aftermarket and other offers of the concern. In addition, a number of training courses allow service station employees to gain in-depth knowledge in the field of next-generation automotive technology.

Serial innovative solutions for after-sales service: TRW electric brake booster for electric vehicles
With the increase in the efficiency of internal combustion engines, the proliferation of hybrid cars and electric vehicles, modular scalable solutions for the brake system have become especially relevant. The TRW electric brake booster is a special electronic system to increase the driver’s effort applied to the brake pedal, as well as its precise dosing, replacing traditional vacuum brake boosters and even used vacuum pumps, hose systems, cables, blocks that serve them. This TRW and ZF Aftermarket system is a real innovation in the field of mass production. It not only meets high requirements for comfort and safety standards, but also supports the recovery of braking energy, and is therefore suitable for many cars that run exclusively on electric traction.
New in the after-sales service market: modular ABS sensors of the WABCO brand
The latest WABCO brand product will help reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction. It allows you to solve a common problem: when commercial vehicles with a faulty ABS sensor get to the service station, it is necessary to order a specific model of this part, but it may be missing from the dealer. A modular ABS sensor has been developed specifically for such cases, which are encountered by independent service stations. It consists of a short ABS sensor with a standard KEA connector attached to the wheel, a cable extension (length may vary), and a set of adapters corresponding to the main types of ECU available on the market. After installation of the modular system on the car only the faulty component will be subject to replacement that will considerably accelerate repair, and also will reduce downtime and the corresponding expenses.
The system differs in its versatility: the service station will no longer need to keep in stock a wide range of different sensors. Variation of three parameters (type of sensor, length, type of connector) allows you to replace hundreds of modifications of finished products. Instead of more than 400 original spare parts, only two existing ABS sensors, ten extension cables, and eight adapters are now used. In the future, it is planned to expand the number of adapters so that the system covers even more original articles. By the end of the year, a tool for selecting the wheel speed sensor will be available, which will help the service station staff to select the right combination of options, even without having other spare parts at hand for comparison.
ZF Bus Connect: how to learn all about
ZF Bus Connect vehicles is a new product for next-generation after-sales service. It is a fleet management tool that allows public transport companies and private carriers to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the transportation process.
Security. The system of tracking of actions of the driver and dangerous situations on the road along with geozonation helps to prevent accidents and protects from theft.
Efficiency. Evaluation of data coming from each vehicle in real-time allows you to optimize the driver’s work, adjust routes and reduce fuel consumption.
Useful work time. Early detection of damage or wear of consumables, as well as diagnosis and repair “on the fly”, can reduce downtime.
ZF Bus Connect can be used with hybrid and electric buses, as well as in fleets with different types of vehicles. Users receive detailed information about each bus: there is the tracking of location in real-time, current fuel consumption, or battery charge; you can view the maintenance status of the components, the tire pressure level, the degree of brake wear, and other system messages.
The partnership is the key to success
When it comes to developing a new generation of after-sales services, the importance of partnering with other companies should not be underestimated.
“What you can’t handle on your own can be done together.” “These words were said almost 200 years ago, but they are still relevant today,” said Dr. Holger Hettych. “Achieving global goals, such as the formation of a sustainable development economy, overcoming digital isolation, and even developing the concept of after-sales service for next-generation cars, is possible only through joint efforts. The ZF Aftermarket division welcomes new partners who welcome innovation and transformation and, like us, strive to make driving and car maintenance safe for the environment and attractive to consumers. ”
