The lava of the volcano on the island of La Palma in Spain has reached the Atlantic Ocean, which raises concerns about the release of toxic gases.

Clouds of white steam rose when a hot stream touched the water near Playa Nueva.

There are also fears that part of the coastline could now collapse, leading to “explosions”.
Hundreds of houses were destroyed after the eruption of Cumbre Vieja in the Canary Islands on September 19.
About 6,000 people were evacuated, and lava flooded homes, schools, and some banana plantations.
Spanish authorities have declared La Palma, the northernmost island of the archipelago off the coast of North Africa, a disaster zone, promising financial support to all those affected by volcanic activity.
