Nigerian police say two police officers were killed while obstructing attacks by unknown militants on a police station and a bank in the southwestern state of Osun.

The police station building was partially damaged. Gunmen also blew up the bank’s security door, but their attempt to “enter the bank’s strong room was thwarted,” police spokeswoman Opalola said.
A police spokesman said the militants fled after fierce gunfire with police, leaving unexploded dynamite and two cars.
She appealed to local residents to report to the police any person or persons suspected of gunshot wounds.
A series of militant attacks have taken place in Nigeria in recent months, resulting in deaths and abductions.
In Nigeria, terrorists attacked an army convoy and killed 30 servicemen.
