According to Indonesian Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno, the government is ready to receive foreign tourists again in October.
Earlier, Minister Luhut Binsar Panjitan announced that the peak of the second wave of COVID-19 had been overcome, and a further reduction in the number of new cases would open the borders. At the same time, the authorities have not yet announced the exact date of opening the borders for tourists. It is also unknown whether all tourists will be allowed in or whether individual countries will be preferred.
According to preliminary data, the island can be visited only by fully vaccinated tourists. However, they will still have to pass a test for coronavirus.
Quarantine in Indonesia
On July 6, Indonesia began requiring foreign tourists to receive a certificate of complete vaccination against coronavirus. At the same time, to enter the country, you had to pass two PCR tests and go to an eight-day quarantine.
In addition, all foreigners who had a positive coronavirus test after arrival were admitted to a hospital or a “coveted” hotel at their own expense for two weeks.
According to the tourist office, from July 3 to 21, all tourist destinations and recreation areas of Indonesia are closed.
One week after tightening the rules for tourists, Indonesia became the leader in the distribution of COVID-19.
