Singapore is opening its borders to more countries for quarantine travel as the city-state seeks to restore its status as an international aviation hub and is preparing to reach a “new norm” for living with COVID-19.

From October 19, fully vaccinated people from eight countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and the United States, will be able to enter the island without quarantine if they pass the COVID-19 tests.
The announcement is a significant step in Singapore’s strategy to restore international ties.
The country of Southeast Asia, one of the world’s largest tourist and financial centers, is home to the Asian headquarters of thousands of global companies, whose leaders have long relied on Singapore’s communications.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said that Singapore will reach the new norm and could ease restrictions when cases stabilize, even if there are hundreds left.
Singapore’s Ministry of Health has said that from October 13, unvaccinated residents will be banned from visiting cafes and shopping malls.
