The Ministry of Agrarian Policy proposes to reduce the cost of the component of electricity in the water tariff for the needs of farmers under irrigation. To this end, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy proposes to make changes to the current system of electricity tariffs for industry and the cost of electricity distribution services.

Voltage classes for electricity consumers:
I class – voltage degree of 27.5 kV and more. Connected directly to power plants. The category includes industrial enterprises with a consumption of 150 million kWh / month;
II class – voltage degree less than 27.5 kV.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy proposes two ways to transfer the irrigation infrastructure to the I voltage class
✅ 1. Technical modernization of power transmission lines (TL), which go to pumping stations and other equipment, to raise the voltage in them to a level of at least 27.5 kV.
It is practically impossible to implement because the protection zones of more powerful transmission lines are larger than the current ones, and there is usually no possibility to provide additional land plots for their expansion.
✅ 2. NERC’s decision to classify water management organizations as consumers in the first class was done for industrial enterprises with a consumption of 150 million kW. h / month, as well as for consumers who are directly connected to power plants.
“According to estimates by the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of NAAS, after the transition from II to I voltage class, the cost of water for irrigation will be lower by 30%,” – said in a statement.
