Thirteen residents died in a tropical storm “Compass” raging in the northern Philippines.

Disaster officials said Wednesday that a severe tropical storm had affected more than 21,000 people in five regions and confirmed 13 deaths.
There are also reports of 9 missing and three injured people.
It is stated, with reference to the data of the Emergency Situations Council of the Republic (NDRRMC), that 1513 families or 5 852 people were placed in shelters, and another 1324 families or 5 673 people were moved to other places.
According to the agency, about 237 barangays or villages were affected.
Damage to agriculture is estimated at 493.76 million Philippine pesos ($ 9.75 million), with the Ilocos region suffering the most.
The “Compass” storm (“Maring”) became the 13th to hit the Philippines this year, leaving the country on Tuesday.
