Kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – October 20,2021- The fourth special operation to evacuate Ukrainian citizens from Syria will be completed on Tuesday 19 October.
“This morning, another special operation to evacuate Ukrainian citizens from Syria was successfully completed. Security and life for all Ukrainians are of the highest value for our state,” Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar
In 2017, it became known that citizens of Ukraine (women and children) stayed in the closed-off al-Hawl and Roj refugee camps in northeastern Syria (“Syrian Kurdistan”).
In late 2020, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs began to conduct special operations to evacuate Ukrainian citizens from Syria.
On October 19, the fourth such operation was carried out with the help of Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Erbil, Dr. Farhan.
“The fifth and final evacuation is planned. After that all Ukrainian citizens will be completely evacuated from northeastern Syria (“Syrian Kurdistan”). Currently, there are still 11 families of Ukrainian citizens. “Al-Hol camp is prepared for evacuation but He is now in quarantine.”
