Kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate. October 24,2021- A number of countries, including Ukraine, have received millions of doses of the coronavirus vaccine for free from Germany.
Germany has provided 7.6 million free doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to various countries. In addition, another 10 million doses were transferred to the COVAX International Program for Equal Access to Medicines, launched by the World Health Organization.
Vietnam received a large share of vaccines from Germany – 2.6 million doses, according to the RND group. It is followed by Ukraine (1.5 million), Egypt and Ghana (1.2 million each), as well as Namibia (0.2 million). Another 350,000 doses are to be sent to Thailand.
“And starting in October, all vaccines from the manufacturer Johnson & Johnson, coming to Germany, are immediately transferred to the COVAX programme.”
It is noteworthy that in general, the German government agreed to transfer 100 million doses of vaccines to third countries from various manufacturers, which must be distributed mainly through COVAX.
In addition, Germany has invested 2.2 billion euros in global programs to combat the Corona virus, of which 1.6 billion euros are directly in various WHO initiatives.
