The Ombudsman said: “Human trafficking … According to some data, 260 thousand Ukrainians were trafficked throughout the years of independence.”
According to the prosecutor, investigators are now working on 700 active cases in the mentioned criminal offenses category.
Evaluating the performance of law enforcers in this regard, Venediktova described it as “unsatisfactory” and called on agencies responsible for combating human trafficking to intensify their work.
Among other things, the Ombudsman stressed the need to intensify the investigation into the laundering of criminal proceeds from human trafficking schemes.
