Kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate –October 31,2021- Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Shimon Shynkowski Wel Senk said that Poles in Ukraine are discriminated against . There is talk of harassment of religious freedom, access to education in the mother tongue and freedom of speech.
The Polish Foreign Ministry said that Polish cells in Ukraine are shrinking at an alarming rate, especially among young people. He also noted that people are motivated to emigrate by the following factors
- socio-economic situation – young people travel to Poland, where they receive a Polish card, which gives them access to education and encourages them to apply for Polish citizenship;
- COVID-19 pandemic – Ukraine ranks second in Europe in terms of coronavirus mortality, and it affects all groups, including Poles living there;
- unfavorable for them the law of language;
- glorification of people connected with the Volyn tragedy;
- stopping the exhumation of Polish victims;
- lack of regulated relations between the state and the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine.
- It would not be an exaggeration to say that Poles in Ukraine are discriminated against in terms of freedom of religion, access to education in their mother tongue and freedom of speech- said Shynkovsky Vel Senk. He added that all these problems were raised by the Foreign Ministry in talks with the Ukrainian side.
