Kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – November 1,2021- US President Joe Biden, during a meeting with acting German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Olaf Schulz, a candidate for the position of German Prime Minister, stressed the importance of supporting Ukraine.
This is according to a reading of the two leaders’ conversations, published by the White House Press Service.
“President Biden underscored the importance of continued work to implement the U.S.-Germany Joint Statement on Support for Ukraine and European Energy Security, to ensure that Russia cannot manipulate natural gas flows for harmful political purposes,” the statement said.
The US President also congratulated Chancellor Merkel on her leadership of more than 16 years on important issues related to international security and transatlantic relations.
The two sides discussed the situation in Afghanistan, including joint efforts to ensure continued humanitarian assistance.
The heads of the 19 largest economies in the world and the European Union are also actually meeting in Rome, the capital of the group that heads Italy, for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 epidemic.
