Metinvest Group, together with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and the Vadim Novinsky Foundation, has started shipping liquid oxygen for the treatment of patients with COVID-19 to the Sumy region. This is the eleventh region to receive assistance from metallurgists.

In the new wave of the pandemic, the Metinvest Group, together with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and the Vadim Novinsky Foundation, maximally supports hospitals that are experiencing a shortage of vital gas. Every day Zaporizhstal, MMKI, Azovstal and DKHZ transfer up to 100 tons of oxygen free of charge. Each ton covers the needs of about 100 patients.
In 2020, Rinat Akhmetov, together with SCM businesses, Shakhtar football club and the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, were the first to help the country in the fight against the coronavirus. At Rinat Akhmetov’s personal initiative, about UAH 500 million was allocated for these purposes within the framework of the project of the Foundation for Combating COVID-19 in Ukraine. The project helped 1.4 million people survive. This is the largest contribution of one philanthropist to the state medicine of Ukraine since independence. More than 500 medical institutions across the country received more than 1,000 pieces of equipment, including 216 ventilators. As well as hundreds of thousands of rapid tests, PPE and consumables.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, the Vadym Novynsky Foundation has allocated more than UAH 100 million to fight the spread of coronavirus infection in Ukraine. The funds were used to purchase ventilators, PCR tests and specialized laboratories, personal protective equipment for physicians. All this was centrally distributed in clinics of Donetsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Kharkiv regions. In addition, UAH 3.8 million was allocated for financial support of 31 families of physicians who died as a result of COVID-19.
