Svitolina will not go to the WTA Finals as a substitute

Elina will not go to the WTA Finals as a substitute, according to BTU .
“Svitolina could become one of the two reserve tennis players. Substitute players have the opportunity to fight against the refusal of one of the members of the main group stage. Earlier, the “tenth number” of the championship race, Ons Jaber from Tunisia, who was to become a substitute, refused this opportunity due to injury. Svitolina is currently in 13th place in the WTA Race, “the statement said.
American Jessica Pegula (№14 in the championship race) and Belgian Elise Mertens (№15), who will compete in the WTA Finals in the doubles, can be substitutes for the Final Tournament.
Elina Svitolina has previously qualified for the WTA Finals three times. In 2018, she won the title in Singapore, and in 2019 she lost in the final in Shenzhen to the world’s first “racket” Australian Ashley Barty.
