“Sanctions were supported against 83 criminal authorities whose residence permits in Ukraine were revoked. 30 people were prosecuted. The Interior Minister also named the countries from which the criminal authorities came: 56 – from the Russian Federation, 24 – from the Republic of Azerbaijan, 9 – from the Republic of Armenia.
In addition, Denis Monastrysky stressed that, having taken the post of Minister of Internal Affairs, he began the procedure of revising the lists and the grounds for inclusion of persons in them. According to him, more than 100 inaccuracies were found (in passport data, information on citizenship, places of residence, etc.). They led to the untimely blocking of the accounts of these persons.
“Sanction lists have become the main enemy for those who have been turning the state into their own enterprise for years. One of the most illustrative examples is the “thief in law” nicknamed “Sunday”. Law enforcement officers have established criminal ties with him, including with high-ranking officials. He set up a scheme to steal budget funds. The state lost, according to officially established data, more than 30 million hryvnias. A year ago, Nedelya was deprived of any leverage over the criminal environment. He was suspected of premeditated murder. Today he is hiding outside Ukraine. Ukraine, ”the Minister said.
Thanks to the sanctions of the National Security and Defense Council, according to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was possible to completely stop the influence of so-called “watchers” in Volyn, Lviv, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi, Sumy and Zaporizhia regions.
“Such steps gave a clear signal – for any offense, for any spread of criminal influence, there will be punishment,” he said.
The next steps, according to Denys Monastyrsky, are to update the data in the sanctions list and compile the following lists, which may be considered in the near future, at the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the government and the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
“There is a multi-layered verification of all data that is offered to the National Security and Defense Council today. I personally check all the data and the grounds for their inclusion in the sanctions lists. In addition, there is a constant monitoring of persons already involved in the creation of new organized criminal groups, “said the Minister of Internal Affairs.
