It is expected that it will be possible to create unmanned ground compact machines. They want to use them for logistics, reconnaissance and combat missions, including fire support and demining.
The Ukroboronprom plant is to provide serial production, and the Sikorsky Challenge holding is to provide marketing support.
Olga Rudenko, Development Director of Meridian Plant, believes that this project should become an example of cooperation between science and industry.
“Our plant is ready for such challenges, and our priority today is to establish the production of mobile combat robots, which can become a weapon of the future, significantly strengthen the defense capabilities of our state and give a powerful impetus to further development of innovative economies,” said the official.
The creation of combat robots should be one of the plant’s five innovative defense initiatives. Other projects, Rudenko says, concern countering enemy drones, demining areas with drones and creating an economical electric motor.
The plant also plans to work on the development of technologies for intelligent video monitoring of airspace and high-precision guidance of means of destruction of air objects.
