The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy signed a law providing for fines ranging from 170 to 255 hryvnias for staying in public institutions and transport without protective equipment, in particular, masks or respirators that cover the nose and mouth. This is the law “On Amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses to Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)” № 1000-IX, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on November 6, 2020.
The document supplements Article 44-3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine, part two, which provides for a fine of 10 to 15 non-taxable minimum incomes for staying in public buildings, structures, public transport during quarantine without personal protective equipment, including respirators or protective masks that cover the nose and mouth, including self-made.
Thus, fines of up to UAH 255 for those who walk indoors or ride public transport without personal protective equipment also apply to improper wearing of masks or respirators.
The Office of the President noted that the law aims to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease among the citizens of Ukraine.
The document will help increase the social responsibility of citizens and protect their health and life, as well as reduce the number of cases of coronavirus disease, which will help prevent uncontrolled growth in the number of patients with COVID-19 and overload of medical facilities, said the OP.
In addition, against the background of disappointing statistics on the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health urges to follow three simple rules – keeping a distance, wearing a mask and using paramedics.
