August 27 – 165 years since the birth of Ivan Franko.
What can be said about this figure? Franko’s merit is invaluable for the Ukrainian nation. He expanded the boundaries of Ukrainian literature, enriched it with new themes and forms, and inspired Ukrainian society with new ideas.
Writer and scholar, literary critic and folklorist, politician and public figure – it is difficult to find in the spiritual life of Ukraine an area in which Franco would not say his weighty word.
Marko Cheremshyna seems to have written best about him: “You ask, maybe what impression did Franco make on me? A great astral body that warms the whole of Ukraine and shines far beyond. “
