Kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – November 14,2021- South African writer Wilbur Smith, known for his adventures and historical novels, died Saturday in Cape Town, South Africa, at the age of 88.
Referring to the writer’s website, he died suddenly, with his wife Nesso at his side.
Wilbur Smith, one of the most prolific and well-known authors in the world, was born on January 9, 1933, in northern Rhodesia, present-day Zambia, and survived malaria (infected at 18 months) and polio (16 years).

Smith’s books have been published in 26 languages in 38 countries with a circulation of more than 110 million copies. Among his novels the most famous are “The Deity of the River”, “The Seventh Scroll”, “The Sunbird”, “The Triumph of the Sun” (the last two were published in Ukrainian). Ten films were written by Smith.
