Grozev said that the split began after his acquaintance with Stas Aseyev, who was captured by militants in “Isolation”. First, three Russians involved in the torture were identified.
“I read Stanislav’s book and realized that this case should be brought to the international criminal court. And it is necessary to look not only for those who were engaged in torture, but also for those who gave them orders, who snatched confessions with their hands. It was clear to me who was standing over them, who was in charge of them. And during the year we were able to reach quite high, and understand that this is a controlled structure of the Russian FSB, “- said Grozev.
According to him, all the FSB curators who were there tried to protect their identities with fictitious persons and nicknames. However, journalists were able to find real curators within a year.
Bellingcat emphasizes that this investigation will be published “very soon” and promises to name curators from the Russian FSB.
Hristo Grozev also said that Bellingcat would try to find out why Denis Kulikovsky (former head of the Isolation torture chamber in the occupied Donetsk region) had been in a government-controlled part of Ukraine for two years and had not been detained by police.
Stanislav Aseyev said that Kulikovsky, who was recently detained by the SBU, could work with the Ukrainian secret services.
Kulikovsky was detained on November 9. He has already been taken into custody for two months without the possibility of bail. He pleaded guilty and asked to be placed in solitary confinement for his own safety .
