Kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – November 16,2021- US President Joe Biden and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping held virtual talks at the highest level, during which they discussed differences, as well as ways to enhance cooperation.
The US President stressed before discussing the main topic: “In my view, our responsibility as the leaders of China and the United States is to ensure that competition between our two countries does not escalate into conflict, whether intended or unintended. Only simple and foreseeable competition” matters.
According to him, there is a need to “establish a framework of common sense, be clear and honest where there are contradictions, and work together where common interests intersect – especially in the context of such critical global issues as climate change.”
For his part, the Chinese President noted that both countries are at important stages of development and need cooperation and collaboration.
“China and the United States must respect each other, coexist in peace and support mutually beneficial cooperation,” Xi Jinping said.
In this regard, he also expressed readiness for dialogue in order to reach consensus, take active steps and promote bilateral relations in a positive way.
According to an official White House statement released Tuesday night, the leaders “discussed the complex nature of relations between the two countries, as well as the importance of responsible management of competition” between the world’s largest economies. In addition, Biden and Sea “covered areas where the interests of (both countries) coincide, as well as areas where interests, values and perspectives diverge.”
In this regard, it is noted that the American side has expressed concern about the situation in Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, as well as in relation to human rights in general. It was also about security in the Indo-Pacific region, where China is increasing its military capabilities. In addition, the topics of trade, technology dissemination, etc. were discussed. Among the areas of common interest were the fight against climate change and phenomena that threaten the global health of mankind.
The two largest economies in the world, the United States and China, are in fierce and intense competition. At the same time, there are serious differences between the countries on the whole list of issues that the United States is determined to resolve through diplomacy.
