The Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine begins the selection of candidates from among servicemen and conscripts for military service on a contract basis in the positions of privates and non-commissioned officers on minesweepers such as Sandown, which are scheduled for transfer from the Royal Navy. .
It will be recalled that this summer in Odessa aboard the British destroyer Defender, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the naval sphere. These included projects to build missile boats, transfer minesweepers and build new bases for the Ukrainian Navy. Almost immediately, both countries have entered the practical phase of implementation of this Memorandum and, as a result, by the end of 2022 Ukraine should receive two British minefield ships of the Sandown class – “Ramsey” and “Blyth” (Blyth), after their complete revision, repair. , modernization, additional equipment and appropriate training of personnel of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
By the way, as part of the ORBITAL training mission, officers of the British Royal Navy have already conducted a number of mine safety classes for officers of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The main emphasis then was on discussing the main aspects of the training and use of Sandown-class minesweepers in mine action operations (actions) as part of mine action tactical groups.
Requirements for candidates: preference is given to candidates under the age of 40 with knowledge of English, but decisions are made individually, depending on the level of training. Also, after the formation of crews, a course of language training and training to study in the UK is provided.
