It is noted that the phenomenon can be called an “almost complete” lunar eclipse, because almost the entire Moon will go under the shadow of the Earth, and most of the Moon’s sphere will turn red.
The partial shadow eclipse will last 3 hours 28 minutes (from 9:20 to 12:48 Kyiv time).
It is noted that at 11:04 Kyiv time the maximum phase of a partial eclipse will occur, when the Moon will enter the Earth’s shadow at 0.97 of its diameter.
As specified in the Planetarium, eclipses of the Sun and Moon occur every six months. The sun, earth and moon are now lined up in one line. When the Earth is in the middle, then the inhabitants of the planet see a lunar eclipse.
When the Moon enters the cone of the Earth’s shadow and turns red, this astronomical phenomenon is called a total eclipse. When the Moon is not completely immersed in the shadow of our planet, it is a partial shadow eclipse.
