“The EU intends to remove former Minister of Revenue and Duties of Ukraine Oleksandr Klymenko from the sanctions list for embezzling state funds of Ukraine next week. There are only 7 people left, including Viktor Yanukovych, from the list of 18 in 2014, ”the journalist wrote.
In March this year, the EU Council removed from the list of sanctions two former high-ranking Ukrainian officials – the former head of the NBU and acting Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov and Education Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk.
The EU has been imposing various types of restrictive measures on Russia since March 2014 in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and the deliberate destabilization of the situation in Ukraine. In addition to personal sanctions, there are also economic sanctions targeted at certain sectors of the Russian economy. There are also EU-imposed restrictions on economic relations with Russia’s annexed Crimea and Sevastopol.
In addition, in March 2014, the EU Council decided to freeze the assets of those responsible for misappropriating Ukrainian public funds.
