A minibus carrying migrants crashed in northern Greece today. Seven people were killed and eight others were injured.

It is noted that a Moldovan citizen illegally transported migrants to Greece. He ignored the police’s demand to stop. While trying to escape, the driver made a sharp turn at high speed and, not coping with the control, crashed into the canopy near the roadway.
There were 14 illegal migrants in the minibus. As a result of the accident, seven people died on the spot. Six more were seriously injured and taken to Komotini Hospital. Two people with minor injuries were hospitalized in a medical institution in Xanthi.
Greece is a popular route to the European Union for refugees from Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Migrants usually cross the land border in northeastern Greece or travel dangerously by boat from the Turkish coast to the Greek islands .
