“Due to the fact that we have changed climates,” said Oksana Puzniak, Deputy Director for Research at the Volyn State Agricultural Research Station of the Institute of Potato Growing of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. – They are wetter, we have drier – then we make unique varieties. We have wheat “Nika Poliska”, which this year passed variety testing throughout Ukraine and showed quite good results. “
According to Oksana Puzniak, scientists have received information that this variety has given good yields in the west and center, as well as in the south and east of Ukraine. In general, the potential of “Nika Poliska” with good technology and proper application of fertilizers can reach up to 10 tons per hectare.
In addition, Volyn scientists have a genetic collection and carry out selection work of winter and spring triticale. The Dovbushanske variety is currently being tested and there are already the first positive reviews about it.
