kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – November 22,2021- Australia has announced the opening of borders on December 1 for certain groups of foreigners.
When foreigners enter, preference will be given to certain groups, including skilled workers and students, residents of Japan and South Korea.
Interior Minister Karen Andrews said that everyone entering the country should be fully vaccinated, have a negative COVID-19 test, done no earlier than 3 days before entry.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison called the opening of the borders “an important step forward.” He expects about 200,000 foreigners to arrive in December and January.
The media notes that Australia closed its borders in March 2020 and did not release even its own residents from the country. Now that 85% of Australians over the age of 16 are fully vaccinated, the country is beginning to gradually lift quarantine restrictions.
New Zealand will lift strict quarantine restrictions from December 3 and move to a new strategy to combat the coronavirus.
