kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – November 24,2021- The Ukrainian Border Guard Service announced the start of a special joint border operation “police” on the border with the Republic of Belarus.
The special operation is coordinated by the State Border Guard Service, and is carried out jointly with the National Guard, the police, the armed forces and other relevant reserves.
These are other measures to increase security and protection at the Ukrainian border in order to prevent the migration crisis and combat illegal activities.
According to the First Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Border Service Volodymyr Nikivorenko, today there is still a threat at the Ukrainian-Belarus border of the spread of the migration crisis and the possible redirection of migrant flows to Ukraine, and therefore law enforcement agencies are already making joint efforts to build a border guard system in this region.
“To further respond to a possible complication of the situation, jointly with the interacting state structures, a joint special border operation has been agreed and an appropriate plan has been developed. And last night it officially started, “Nikiforenko said.
The first deputy chairman of the State Border Guard Service added that its main task is to prevent illegal migrants from crossing the state border and entering Ukraine, and for this, the coordination of actions of all the forces involved is ensured.
For the management of the operation and the operational exchange of information, the work of the Interdepartmental coordination headquarters was organized at the central and regional levels, coordination groups of management were created at the tactical (district) level.
Control of the state border regime will be carried out by increased border detachments with a simultaneous build-up of forces and means in possible directions of attempts to break through groups of illegal migrants.
In border protection, aviation, unmanned aerial systems, as well as technical surveillance equipment will be used for patrolling and monitoring.
In addition, it is envisaged to strengthen the border regime along the Ukrainian-Belarusian section of the state border. Within the framework of the controlled border areas, control posts will be set up on highways and patrolling of the main roads leading to the state border, checks of bus and railway stations, and preventive measures in the settlements of the border zone.
As reported, the regime of Alyaksandr Lukashenka, after sanctions by the European Union, provoked a migration crisis on the borders of Belarus with Lithuania, Latvia and Poland. Migrants from Iraq, Syria and a number of African countries arrived en masse in Belarus, and the border service of this state delivered them to the EU borders.
Thousands of people are currently trapped in the border strip. As the winter colds approach, this situation threatens to escalate into a full-blown humanitarian crisis.
