“Until January 31, 2022, the government is introducing enhanced border measures to all travelers in South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Namibia within 14 days of their arrival in Canada,” the statement said.
Note that foreigners who have been in one of these countries for the past two weeks will not be able to enter Canada. Citizens and permanent residents of Canada returning from this region will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days. In addition, they will be required to take several PCR tests: they are carried out 72 hours before departure, immediately after arrival, as well as on the 8th and 14th days of self-isolation.
At the same time, the Canadian government emphasized that not a single case of a new COVID-19 strain has been found in the country.
A new strain, more resistant to vaccines, was found in South Africa, Botswana, and Hong Kong. In this regard, Great Britain announced the termination of flights with the countries of southern Africa.
The US administration also decided to suspend the reception of visitors from eight African countries due to the risk of the spread of a new strain of coronavirus.
