kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – November 29,2021- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is warning Ukrainian citizens against traveling to South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe due to the spread of a new strain of coronavirus Omicron.
“Ukrainians who are currently in these countries must strictly adhere to anti-epidemic requirements, immediately contact local medical institutions in case of symptoms, be prepared for additional quarantine restrictions upon arrival in Ukraine,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also recommends monitoring the reports of air carriers in connection with possible changes in flights and the introduction of additional anti-epidemic measures.
On November 26, the World Health Organization named a new strain of coronavirus found in South Africa.
On November 26, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the EU intends to suspend flights to southern Africa via the Omicron strain.
The US administration is suspending visitors from South Africa and seven neighboring countries.
