KIEV. Nov. 21. UNN. In Lviv, doctors performed a heart and two kidney transplant at night, the donor of which was a 28-year-old man who died of a stroke. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Clinical Ambulance Hospital of Lviv.
“Three more lives were saved. That night, our doctors performed another heart and two kidney transplant. A 28-year-old man became a donor. As a result of the stroke, a team of medics fought for his life for a week, but could not save him, “the statement said.
It is noted that the heart was given to a 36-year-old resident of Kostiantynivka, a father of two children. Due to the flu he had as a child with complications, his heart was quadrupled! The new heart transplant lasted from midnight until seven in the morning.
“Both kidney transplants were successful. One kidney was transplanted to a 51-year-old Lviv resident who had chronic kidney disease for 10 years and was on dialysis. Another kidney went to a Kyivan who had a kidney transplant in 2012, but it lost its function and the man switched to kidney replacement therapy, ”the statement reads.
As previously reported in UNN, the Ministry of Health plans to reallocate UAH 24 million within the budget for 2020 for a pilot project on transplantation.
It will be recalled that Deputy Minister of Health for European Integration Ihor Ivashchenko stated that 88 bone marrow transplants, 21 kidney transplants and 5 heart transplants are planned for Ukraine by the end of this year.
