“Consumption of poultry meat has not decreased over the past 5 years, but only increased annually: within 1 kg per 1 person, with a slowdown last year,” he said.
This year the situation will not change, Karpenko continued, predicting a slight increase in poultry consumption in Ukraine.
The expert also commented on the pace of poultry production in Ukraine.
“The rate of product production lags behind last year’s figures by 3%. However, by the end of the year this figure will level off, and the growth of poultry imports will balance domestic demand and leave consumption with growth,” he said.
Karpenko added that poultry meat was and is the cheapest and most affordable type of meat for Ukrainians.
“Despite the 25% rise in prices since the beginning of the year, due to rising costs of feed and energy,” he said.

During the years of independence, poultry production in Ukraine increased by 98% and remains the flagship export of Ukrainian meat.
Poultry, including chicken, remains the most popular meat in Ukraine.
Nasha Ryaba remains the only chicken in Ukraine that has confirmed the absence of antibiotics. During independent testing, experts investigated that the producer (MHP) does not use antibiotics throughout the poultry farming process.
Note that MHP products are exported to more than 80 countries, which indicates the high quality and safety of meat. This year, MHP became the first to send Ukrainian chicken to London.
