When the place is chosen, measure its width and height. Do not forget to consider also the height of the stand (if it is already purchased) and decorations for the top of the tree. Take roulette and records with you to the Christmas market. Thick gloves and a rope can also be useful to secure the tree to the trunk of the car. It will be useful to measure the diameter of the stand so that the trunk of the selected tree fits into it.
On sale now you can find different types of conifers. It will be easier to decorate plants with short needles that have sufficient distances between the branches – the decorations on them will hang evenly. To choose a fresh tree, pull the branch slightly and evaluate the quality of the needles: the needles should be green and shiny, not dull and brown, they should not crumble during inspection.
As soon as the tree is at home, saw off the bottom of the trunk a few inches. A fresh cut will help the tree absorb water more efficiently. In the place where you plan to install a Christmas tree, the floor should be leveled and covered with a waterproof coating, such as a piece of plastic wrap to protect the surface from moisture.
If you have children or pets, and if the stand is not reliable enough, attach the spruce to the wall or durable furniture. You can use hooks with ears, fishing line, twine or rope. Make sure that the stretch marks are out of the reach of children and animals.
