Three skiers were killed and two were injured in an avalanche in central Austria, local authorities said on Sunday .

The victims were part of a group of 11 skiers, eight of whom fell under a snow plate about 200 meters wide as they climbed a slope during a ski tour in the Tweng district of Salzburg.
Three skiers were completely covered by an avalanche. Rescuers managed to find two skiers with the help of search engines; one was already dead and the other later died at a hospital in Klagenfurt.
The third skier buried under the snow did not have a search device. His body was found about four hours after the avalanche.
The victims were two Austrians, 19 years old, and the other 24. Two injured skiers, who got out of the avalanche on their own, were taken to a local hospital.
