kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – December 6,2021- Israel’s Mossad intelligence chief David Barnea is scheduled to visit the United States on Sunday for talks with senior US officials on Iran’s nuclear program.
It is noted that Barnea will provide US officials with updated intelligence on the relevant efforts of Tehran.
According to Israeli officials, sanctions against Iran should be strengthened and a real threat of military action created after negotiations in Vienna on a return to the 2015 nuclear deal failed.
In a rare public speech last week, Barnea said Iran would not have nuclear weapons, which would not be allowed.
He is expected to tell his American counterparts that Iran continues to fool the world by holding talks in Vienna while its nuclear program is in full swing.
Talks in Vienna between the world powers and the Islamic Republic of Iran ended on Thursday, but are expected to resume later.
Barnea also intends to reaffirm Israel’s position that it will not be bound by any agreement reached with Iran and that Israel’s efforts to thwart Tehran’s nuclear ambitions will continue.
Israel insists that tougher sanctions are the right way forward in relations with Tehran.
Iran has reportedly begun producing enriched uranium despite talks with the West on resuming the “nuclear deal.”
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett last week called on world leaders “not to succumb to Iran’s nuclear blackmail” amid talks in Vienna.
The Iranian nuclear agreement was concluded in 2015 during the presidency of Barack Obama in the P5 + 1 format (five permanent members of the UN Security Council, as well as Germany with the involvement of the EU).
Tehran has suspended its nuclear deal after former US President Donald Trump withdrew Washington from the JCPOA in 2018 and launched a campaign of maximum pressure on Iran with new tough US sanctions.
In September, Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said that nuclear material had been found at three IAEA sites not declared in Iran, but official Tehran had not yet provided an explanation.
