kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – December 18,2021- The UK has signed a free trade agreement with Australia, which the British government has described as “historic”.
“The UK has signed a landmark trade agreement with Australia, our first post-EU agreement that sets new global standards for digital technologies and services and creates new work and travel opportunities for both Britons and Australians.”
The deal was agreed by British and Australian Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Scott Morrison in London in June.
The document was finally signed at a virtual ceremony by British Foreign Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan on Thursday night, after which it was submitted to parliament.
As a result of the agreement, trade between the countries is expected to increase by about 10.4 billion pounds, which will lead to higher wages in Britain. The agreement should also help create new business opportunities in both countries.
The United Kingdom has reportedly suspended its membership of the EU on January 31, 2020.
