In the last month of 2020, Ukrainians are expected to recalculate pensions, gas license fees, and an increase in tariffs for blue fuel. Also in December, the dollar may decline. The Observer writes about this.
The dollar may fall
Tightening quarantines and the height of the pandemic could negatively affect the value of the dollar. And the worse the American currency is, the cheaper it is in Ukraine. Alpari analyst Vadim Iosub explains: the economic activity of business will slow down, entrepreneurs will buy less foreign currency for imports, and at the same time the demand for it will decrease.
“By the end of the year, the dollar may remain close to the current level, about UAH 28 / $,” the expert predicts. – In addition, in December, due to the holiday period, Ukrainians will sell currency in order to spend hryvnia on the New Year’s table and gifts.
By the way, leading world experts, among whom, for example, the well-known billionaire, columnist for Yahoo Finance Robert Kiyosaki, said: now there is a period of “dollar death”. They say, in order to save investments, you need to buy precious metals or even cryptocurrencies. So, on his Twitter page, he commented on the highest bitcoin rate in two years (16 thousand dollars).
Pensions will not grow for everyone
In December, the cost of living will also be recalculated, which will increase the minimum and maximum pensions, as well as allowances for seniority in excess of the norm (the norm: 30 years for a woman and 35 years for a man).
How to recalculate:
- the premium will increase from UAH 17.2 to UAH 17.69;
- minimum pension from UAH 1720 to UAH 1769;
- maximum pension from 17 210 to 17 690 UAH.
As a senior researcher at the Institute of Demography and Social Research Lydia Tkachenko said, the cost of living in Ukraine has not characterized the real cost of living for a long time. It is rather a figure on the basis of which the amount of social benefits is calculated.
Moreover, even according to the calculations of the Ministry of Social Policy, the minimum pension cannot be enough even for the most necessary set of goods and services.
Gas tariffs will increase
The cost of blue fuel for December will be known only at the end of November. However, it is already clear that the price will rise. During the heating season, and even more so with the coldest months approaching, gas consumption grows significantly not only in Ukraine, but throughout the world.
Ukrainians are assigned tariffs based on the cost of blue fuel on the exchange. Gas prices will probably go up until February. The rise in prices may be about 20-30%. On average, the price can rise from about 8.8 to more than 10 UAH per cubic meter.
“As long as there is the dynamics of growth, but when there is a limit and the transition to a reduction, it is impossible to say exactly Tentatively it will be in February 2021.” – told in the Ukrainian energy market.
Salaries will be recalculated
An increase in the living wage will lead to a recalculation of public sector wages. Thus, according to the law , the first wage rate must be no less than the subsistence level for the able-bodied worker.
In November, the cost of living is UAH 2197, and in December it will be UAH 2270. Further, depending on the tariff category, the increase coefficient is used. For example, the 10th wage category is 1.82 salaries, and the last, 25th, is 4.51 salaries.
Now the minimum wage is UAH 2225. After recalculating the subsistence minimum, it should be raised to at least UAH 2,270. Thus, state employees with the 10th tariff category will raise their salaries from UAH 4049 to UAH 4131.
The most senior officials (25th grade) now receive a salary of UAH 10,034, and will be from UAH 10,237. However, it should be borne in mind that an increase in December should not be expected. Most likely, the decision will be made in January.
Last month of the old monthly fee
In addition, December will be the last month of the “old” gas subscription. Since January, it will be recalculated based on the updated consumption volumes. So, now we pay according to the volume of blue fuel used from October 2018 to October 2019. From January 1, you will need to pay from the amount that was spent from October 2019 to October 2020.
Accordingly, if you spent more natural gas, you will have to pay more. And vice versa.
