First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzheppar said that the department is checking information about the sale of tiles from the Chersonesos Tavriya Museum-Reserve on the Avito website.
This was reported by Radio Liberty.
“Now he (announcement – ed.) Is not there. We study the situation. “Unfortunately, this is a terrible” classic “of the occupation genre, which, if confirmed, will be brought to the attention of international partners,” said Jeppar.
On November 18, it was announced that the laying of tiles on the territory of St. Vladimir’s Cathedral in Chersonesos was completed. According to the museum administration, the cover was not protected: it was dismantled.
On the same day, an announcement appeared on the Avito website about the sale of more than 1,000 square meters of tiles, allegedly dismantled “from the place of Prince Vladimir’s baptism.” The publication was published on behalf of Grunt Opt.rf.
The administration of the museum-reserve called this announcement a “provocation”.
“We regard this as an attempt by unscrupulous sellers to simply” fill “the price of a completely ordinary product that has nothing to do with the museum-reserve,” says the website of Chersonesos Tavriya.
Later, the administration published a letter in which the company “Grunt opt.rf” apologized for placing this ad.
In October this year, the Director-General of UNESCO in his report noted the deteriorating situation in the Russian-occupied Crimea and Sevastopol.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi issued a decree including the Russian State Hermitage Museum, the Russian Geographical Society, the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and other structures in the list of sanctions, including for archeological excavations in annexed Crimea.
Former Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia, speaking at the 40th session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris, said that Russia’s actions in Crimea pose a “serious danger” to Chersonesos and the Khan’s Palace.
