The Ukrainian Carpathians were covered with snow, in some places the height of the snow cover reaches 186 centimeters. Experts advise to avoid hiking in the mountains. This was reported by UNN with reference to the data of the department of hydrological forecasts of the Ukrainian meteorological center.

On the morning of December 26 at the snow avalanche station Pozhezhevskaya at the foot of Mount Pezhizhevskaya, near the highest peak of the Hoverla Carpathians, holding 11.6 degrees below zero, there is fresh snow. The height of the snow cover is 90-175 cm.
In the area of the Play station on the Borzhava meadow in Transcarpathia it was 59-92 cm, here -10.6 °.
And at the avalanche post Dragobrat in Transcarpathia the air temperature is -11.8 ° С. The height of the snow cover here reaches 186 cm.
On Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirsky – one of the highest peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians on the border of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions – yesterday it was also snowy.

In the Carpathians – high avalanche danger (level 4), due to snowfalls and blizzards, is expected on December 26-27 – in the highlands of Ivano-Frankivsk, in the eastern part of the Transcarpathian region.
“Climbing avalanches at low additional loads, high probability of mass ascent of natural medium and large avalanches. We strongly advise you to refrain from hiking in the highlands,” said the department of Ukrhydrometcenter.
Also significant avalanche danger (level 3), due to snowfalls and blizzards, is expected on December 26-27 – in the highlands of the western and central part of the Transcarpathian region, in the mountains of Chernivtsi, in the middle mountains of Lviv region. “Avalanches are possible at low additional loads, some natural medium and large avalanches. We strongly advise you to refrain from hiking in the highlands,” the experts added.
