People around the world are divided into three conditional groups, depending on the chronotype: larks, owls and pigeons. The first group includes those who are most productive in the morning and wake up easily in the morning. Owls are those who are full of energy in the evening and at night, and in the morning feels broken. Pigeons are a lesser known group, but they do exist and include the most active people during the day. In almost half of the cases, the human chronotype is determined at the level of genes. In other words, if the parents were so-called owls, the chance that the child will follow the same regime is almost 50%.
In their new study, scientists have found that the most dangerous situation is for owls. They are forced almost every day to get up early in the morning to work or study. This causes serious damage to health. In the morning, people with owl biological regime continue to actively produce melatonin – a sleep hormone, which is why these people are extremely irritable in the morning and feel exhausted. Depression can even develop over time. But this is not the only harm to the body. Quite often owls have a hormonal failure. Their body stops absorbing substances such as glucose and insulin. And for diabetics, this condition can be deadly.
Based on the results, experts urge people to be attentive to their body and not try to remake what is inherent in nature. If you are an owl, you can try to set a schedule that would be best for your regime, and allow you to wake up a little later.
