The specialist explained how important water procedures are during fever and illness.
Patients with high fever are regularly worried about whether it is possible to take a shower during illness. It turns out that there are no special contraindications for water procedures during illness, and if the patient has enough strength and there is help nearby, then taking a shower is even useful.
As the therapist and cardiologist Alexander Myasnikov said in a commentary for MedicForum, the widespread theory that water procedures at temperatures can harm patients is a myth.
He believes that daily hygiene should be observed regardless of the presence of an elevated temperature or its absence, and even with a slight ailment, you should definitely go to the shower.
“What is the point of lying in sweat and smelling of all the ‘aromas’ of an unwashed body? After the water, the skin begins to breathe, the patient simply feels better,” the specialist believes.
He noted that at a very high temperature, which reaches 39-40 degrees, it will be difficult for a sick person to visit a shower without assistance. However, even in this case, basic hygiene is necessary.
“It is necessary to wipe the person with a damp cloth, it can bring relief,” added Myasnikov.
