The Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, held on November 24, recorded full ecclesial communication between the PCU and the Church of Cyprus as between the Autocephalous Orthodox Sisters.
This is stated in the decision of the Journal № 32.
The Primate of the PCU informed the participants of the Synod about the recent events between the two Churches: On October 24, Archbishop Chrysostom II mentioned the name of Metropolitan Epiphanius during the Liturgy, and later a telephone conversation took place between the Primates of both Churches.
According to the PCU website, the hierarchs “took note of the message, expressing gratitude to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus His Beatitude Archbishop of New Justinian and All Cyprus Chrysostom II and the hierarchs of the Church of Cyprus who followed the canonical decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on autocephaly.”
The participants of the Synod then stated that between the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (PCU) and the Cypriot Orthodox Church “full ecclesial communion has been established, as between the Autocephalous Orthodox Sisters”.
