At recycling points, the wood is crushed into chips, which are used to mulch the holes of evergreen plants. As noted, in winter mulch protects the soil from freezing, and in the warm season helps maintain water balance, protects against drying and overheating.
“Trees dumped in landfills will not be useful, unlike those brought to recycling points. Traditionally, we are waiting for two waves when Ukrainians begin to take Christmas trees, pines and spruces out of the house: the Old New Year and Epiphany. Last year, Kyiv residents handed over 6,500 Christmas trees to recycling points, ”said Oleksiy Korol, General Director of Kyivzelenbud.
