Kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – January 6,2022- Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ole Nikolenko said that a group of Ukrainian citizens was unable to leave the Kazakh city of Almaty by plane to Kiev on Wednesday evening, and that operations at Almaty airport had stopped.
According to Nikolenko, the Ukrainian Embassy in Kazakhstan is keeping in touch with the passengers and inquiring about the possibility of this flight. According to him, Ukrainians can fly to Kyiv from the airport in the capital Nur-Sultan.
The spokesman said that Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba had instructed relevant departments of the diplomatic authority to focus on protecting the interests of Ukrainian citizens in Kazakhstan. The embassy in Nur-Sultan works around the clock.

Since January 2nd there have been protests against high prices for LPG in Kazakhstan. The President of the country Kassym-Shomart Tokayev declared a state of emergency because of the protests. He previously fired the government.
