Doctors explained how fat deficiency harms the body:
“By limiting himself in the consumption of fat, a person does not allow the cells of his body to function normally, which provokes vitamin and mineral starvation.”
They also explained that the fat consumed with food promotes the synthesis of surfactant – a substance necessary for lung health. In particular, due to the surfactant, the pulmonary alveoli are maintained in a straightened state.
Insufficient fat intake not only harms the lungs, it also contributes to hormonal imbalances: men are at risk of suffering from low testosterone levels, women – from estrogen deficiency.
“In the body of men and women, sex hormones are synthesized from cholesterol, which comes from animal fats and is synthesized in the body from them,” the doctors explained.
Normally, up to 80 g of fat should be consumed daily, and half of this amount should be vegetable fat. It is also important to make sure that the foods that are a source of fat are of good quality.
