Visceral fat is stored in the abdominal cavity and regulates the work of hormones in the body. Excess can have potentially dangerous consequences: in particular, the risk of heart disease increases because visceral fat releases specific chemicals. Scientists say that eating certain foods helps the body get rid of excess fat – in this regard, they recommend eating kiwi.
Nutrients magazine published the results of a study that says that kiwi improves blood sugar control, which is associated with fat and weight loss. Test participants ate two kiwis daily for 12 weeks. At the end of this period, people showed a significant increase in plasma vitamin C levels, as well as a decrease in diastolic and systolic blood pressure, a decrease in waist circumference and waist-to-thigh ratio.
“Kiwi contains the enzyme actinidine, which improves digestion. Good digestion and sustainable weight loss go hand in hand,” the researchers said.
According to scientists, one kiwi fruit, weighing at least 69 g, contains about 64 mg of vitamin C. It accelerates the burning of body fat in the presence of exercise. Also, “hairy” fruits are a good source of other antioxidants, including choline, lutein and zeaxanthin, which help remove free radicals from the body. According to the authors of the study, eating kiwi and regular exercise can significantly reduce the amount of visceral fat, and eating enough foods with vitamin C can make people more resistant to fat gain.
